ABOUT BROOME
Broome Australia is an oasis
in the far north west of Australia. Flanked by desert to the south, the
Indian Ocean to the north and west and the Kimberley to the east, this
small town is the perfect base from which to experience outback
Australia. Broome boasts one of the world’s best beaches – Cable Beach –
and lies on the doorstep of Kimberley gorge and cattle country.
Originally founded as a pearling port, Broome’s history is unique and
colourful and its multicultural heritage makes it one of Australia’s
most charismatic towns.
GETTING HERE
Being so remote, most
travellers will reach Broome via the air. Regular flights from Perth
tend to be the most cost effective route though during the dry season
there direct flights from Australia’s key east coast cities are also on
offer through Qantas. Those with more time sometimes choose to travel
overland from Perth or Darwin though as with all travel in this big
brown land of ours, the distances are great.
