Jen Bird
Born into a family of
environmental and geological scientists, Jen Bird was destined
to make nature her playground. This background, combined with 10
years of experience in global tour operations has her well
placed to coordinate and market Kimberley Wild’s great range of
4WD adventures in the Kimberley.
Jen grew up in the city and has been fortunate enough to travel
extensively all over the world. Though she loved her wanderings
– the places she has been and people she met along the way – Jen
believes that Australia is one the most beautiful places on the
planet. Having developed a love for wide open spaces and
pristine environments and a fascination for different cultures,
the Kimberley is the perfect place for Jen to live out her dream
of sharing Australia with travellers from all over the world.
When she is not out and about exploring the Kimberley or
chatting with our travellers about their adventures, Jen is a
freelance travel writer for a variety of international
publications, a board member of the Broome Visitors Centre and
mum to baby girl, Marley Rose.

James Weeding
For James the call of the Kimberley has
always been strong. Growing up in Melbourne he was fascinated by
stories and pictures of the Kimberley outback shown to him by
his neighbour, Frank Hughes, the geologist credited with the
discovery of the Kimberley Diamond deposits. Another neighbour
20 years later, Kevin Pearce a seaplane pilot based in Derby
would spend each wet season in Melbourne with accounts of the
natural beauty of the Kimberley which reinforced James’s desire
to make the Kimberley his home.
James spent his teenage years in Cobram on
the News South Wales/Victorian border where a lifelong
appreciation for the bush was formed. While his brother David (a
Sale of the Century Champion and one of the big winners on Who
Wants to be a Millionaire) spent most of his time reading books
James was always exploring the surrounding bushland. Tall and
athletic, James spent several years playing AFL with Geelong, St
Kilda and Hawthorn as well as two years spent in Adelaide with
Norwood. James spent most of the 1990’s until 2003 operating a
successful fashion label in Melbourne and Sydney with
international celebrities and society figures among his
clientele before selling up to Hong Kong interests and leaving
the big city for the outback. While mainly concerned with the
operational side of the business James also takes tours at every
opportunity he can. |
